WELCOME TO ANANSE VILLAGE
Our aim is to develop a
cultural project in the rural world, where the vast majority of the
people of Ghana (& of the whole Africa) live and where traditional
cultures and costumes are better maintained. Experiencing nature at its
best goes along with the will to show the potentialities of small
villages, constantly overshadowed by the "centralizing" metropolis.
Ananse Village is open to anyone willing to learn or expand on Ghanaian rich and various traditions through drumming & dancing classes and residential workshops
as well as to travellers who simply like to spend some time amid the
beauty and the peace of the tropical forest, experiencing the way of
life of a small rural community in Ghana.
Ananse Village
it's a work in progress, welcoming everybody's contribution to its
vision of creating in Africa (not in Paris, London or New York…)
an irradiating centre to elaborate, pass down and spread various
aspects of the local and West African cultures at large.
Ghana is
a cross-section of ethnic, linguistic and religious groups peacefully
sharing a country as big as Britain: it's a good example of an African
country living in peace, and thanks to its "privileged" situation it
has been attracting people from the whole sub region. Just like Ghana, Ananse Village
aims at being a meeting place of different cultures, histories,
experiences and… ideas: everybody's contribution is valuable!
Together with the people of Pabi,
the village that has welcomed us, we've been identifying some of the
most critical issues affecting the community, especially its children,
women and disabled, and have developed some micro projects
for healthcare and poverty alleviation that have been implemented
thanks to the generosity of friends, visitors and supporters. We hope
that these project will grow sustainably and autonomously.
